If I were graduating college today, here’s exactly how I’d land my first job.. [without applying to 100+ postings.]
1. Find 10–15 people doing what you want to do.
2. Ask friends or family for intros, or shoot your shot and DM them directly.
3. Show up prepared with 3 solid questions: ➜ How did you get started? ➜ What advice do you have for me? ➜ What would you do differently if you were starting today?
Here’s the thing most grads don’t realize: ➜ People 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 talking about themselves. ➜ They 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 what it felt like to be new. ➜ They 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to help.
You’re not asking for a job. You’re building relationships.
And nearly everyone I’ve worked with who did this? ➜ Got intros. ➜ Found mentors. ➜ Landed a job they were excited about.
